Retrieving

The Labrador Retriever Club of WA conduct four SPECIAL EVENTS annually with the winner holding the perpetual trophy or one year.

  1. The Marie Ewen trophy is awarded to the Winner of the first All Age Stake of the year conducted by the LRC of WA. It was donated by the Club, in honour of the founding/life member, Marie Ewen Previous Winners
  2. The Mossbank Novice Shield is awarded to the winner of the first Novice Trial of the year conducted by the LCR of WA. It was donated by Andy Thwaites of Mossbank GSP’s.  Previous Winners
  3. The Jagarian Restricted Shield is awarded to the winner of the last Restricted Trial of the year conducted by the LRC of WA. It was donated by Gerry and Maureen Knight of Jagarian Labrador Retrievers. 
  4. The Flash Memorial Shield is awarded to the winner of the last LRC All Age Stake each year. The Flash Memorial Shield was donated by the Club in honour of the first triple champion ever in Australia. He was a Champion, Retreiving Trial Champion and Obedience Champion.

LABRADOR RETRIEVER CLUB ALSO HAVE PERPETUAL TROPHIES FOR RETRIEVING TRIALS.

These are  presented at the Annual General Meeting. They are awarded for overall performance in trials throughout the year.

To be eligible to win any the following perpetual trophies, the owner of the competing dog must have been a financial member of the LRC from the beginning of the current trial season and must be a permanent resident of Western Australia. Points may be scored at all sanctioned trials conducted in WA which are open to all Gundog breeds.

Scoring system
Points are awarded to the first five dogs in a stake, provided that all retrieves have been completed
1st = 5 points, 2nd = 4 points, 3rd = 3 points, 4th = 2 points and 5th = 1 point.
The total number of points a dog has accumulated through the year is then divided by the number of trials in which the dog competed in that stake.

Ross Ewen Trophy (Labradors only)
This is for dogs that compete in All Age and Championship Stakes. All dogs who do not complete the course are marked zero.
In order to be eligible, the dog must compete in more than 50% of All Age and/or Championship Stakes held in Western Australia during the current year.

Labrador Retriever Club Restricted Shield (Labradors only)
This is for dogs that compete in Restricted Stakes. All dogs who do not complete the course are marked zero.
In order to be eligible, a dog must compete in at least four Restricted Stakes during the current year, except where the dog wins at its first three entries in that class.

Labrador Retriever Club Novice Shield (Labradors only)
This is for dogs that compete in Novice Stakes. All dogs who do not complete the course are marked zero.
In order to be eligible, a dog must compete in at least four Novice Stakes during the current year, except where the dog wins two novice stakes before having competed four times in that class.

LABRADOR RETRIEVER CLUB PERPETUAL TROPHIES ARE PRESENTED AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING EACH YEAR

The Encouragement Trophy award presented to the most successful New Exhibitor for that current year.

The Finchaven Trophy
Donated by Jack and Barbara Martin of Finchaven Labradors to be awarded to the top Show Male in that current year.

The Wilnora Trophy
Donated by Denis and Sandra Ingraham of Wilnora Labradors to be awarded to the top Show Bitch in that current year.

Best in Show Trophy
presented by the Club to the Best in Show winner of the Championship Show conducted each year.

Runner Up Best in Show Trophy
presented by the Club to the Runner Up Best In show at the Championship Show conducted each year.
